if he respects you he will call at least two bigger bets with AK and will never checkraise without KK/JJ. he will also not ever be bluffing here, so i just don't understand the checks.

imagine if you are villain with AK here. do you seriously find a flop fold? no.

bet flop, check turn, either call riv or bet. fold to a c/r anywhere.

Looks like you missed out on a lot of value.

[/ QUOTE ]

Care to elaborate where?

Edit: In reference to Xorbie's line, I think that's fine, however we lose value from QQ or AQ (debatable PF call) that decides to fire the turn.

IMO, if we raise the turn or river, it looks like we (maybe) are leaving money on the table against 6 combos of AK, whereas we save money against 6 combos of JJ/KK.

The rest of his range nets us the same win/loss result.

the lost value here is in bet sizes, not number of bets. you can get $60 + $140 no problem vs AK.

Aggie,

With these stacks and the amount of money that you put in pre flop, you want to try to get all in

I wouldn't fold to any damn c/r's either

this line has more merit in a deeper stack situation.

I really agree with this. You should be looking to extract value from AK not protect against a set.

As i said this is a very nontypical way for me to play this hand. Normally i just try to get my chips in. It's interesting the opinions are so mixed. In the actual hand he had KK so i felt real good about the way i played it.

But maybe i am losing too much value against AK?

Why? When there are just as many combos of AK and there are sets... and villain has the potential to back down with AK, whereas he never will with a set?

Not saying I'm 100% correct, I just think that IF hero's line is in error, it isn't by much. Call me weak tight I guess.

Also, I don't see people can say that Villain will never be bluffing here? Perhaps not on the river, but certainly QQ will bet this turn a decent % of the time.

Anyone with a dissenting opinion care to elaborate?

Thanks,

KoW

you need to also throw in other hands that might call a raise such as KQ, KT. also the likelihood of AK vs KK/JJ isn't 50/50 because if he had KK you're probably going to see a re-raise preflop.
