Re: live game, AK in the sb
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] cap flop ur only realistically behind to TT. make BB pay up. [/ QUOTE ] What about the idea of sacrificing one sb here to make that sucker pay 2bbs on the turn? How often do you think a flop, with this action, gets checked through on the turn? [/ QUOTE ] Since button is a good TAG and his preflop range is fairly wide in this spot, it probably gets checked through a fair percentage of the time. [/ QUOTE ] How wide do you think his range is after the pre-flop/flop action? He capped pre-flop, then 3 bet a flop c/r which was already cold called 2 bets on the flop. To me, I think he's betting this turn a HULLUVA lot. |

Re: live game, AK in the sb
I call 3 bet on flop.
Diamond turn I check and probably fold to any bet, Non diamond turn I probably lead out and then call if BB or button 2 bets then call down if no diamond on riv. |

Re: live game, AK in the sb
I'm pretty sure i'd be a breakeven player if i never bet when a flush possibility came in and I didnt have a flush.
With 3 people in and 2 broadways in a big pot, the chance of a flush draw out there isnt that high. If you bet the 3rd diamond and you get raised by the BB, I might find a fold, but you cant just give up with 3 diamonds out there. Now if the river is a 4th diamond, yeah prob give up. |

Re: live game, AK in the sb
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I really want to cap though to get a better read on what BB has before we start entering the more expensive streets, not to mention the drawy board. [/ QUOTE ] How does capping help that? He's already called 2 cold on the flop, what makes you think he won't call another two small bets? [/ QUOTE ] It is a live game..if this guy is fishy he's gotta have some tells. Without tells though I make him pay for WA/WB or draws..I like straight forward play as long as BB is in. |

Re: live game, AK in the sb
do you have the King of diamonds? that is pretty important here because if you do, it would eliminate the possibility of the button getting a little raise happy with a broadway flush draw. but given the way the hand is being played out, all this talk about wanting to checkraise the turn makes me a little nervous because button has made it pretty clear from preflop (capping the a blind's 3-bet) and the flop (3-betting a guy who just checkraised the preflop capper) he doesn't give a flying eff what you have and would i'd legitimately be concerned about being behind here.
with that said, i wouldn't mind calling and donking a safe turn card. button would have to play pretty honestly here on the turn. a checkraise could work too but how often does he really have AQ here? obv fold if he 3-bets you. |

Re: live game, AK in the sb
He started with "No Diamonds" so he doesn't have the King of Diamonds.
I would call, bet out on the Turn and if he raised I would call him down. I wouldn't give hem a free card on the turn, but capping on the flop isn't necesarry to bet out on the Turn. |

Re: live game, AK in the sb
capping the flop has benefits. playing this way should help encourage more straightforward action on the big streets and usually keep the action under control getting to SD cheaper.
the way i usually end up playing it is call and donk a clean turn. c/r is okay, but given the draws i like donking more. |
