Default The Matrix

After watching The Matrix for the first time last night while three people came in and said, YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE MATRIX?!?!?, I began to think that this movie is probably the most watched movie of our generation. So OOT, how many of you have seen The Matrix? Any other nominations?

I'm a yes, and it's not even effing close to the "most watched movie of our generation." I can pretty much guarantee that Star Wars ranks ahead of it, probably The Godfather as well, and likely a number of other movies that aren't a quarter of a century old.

yeah everyone has seen this movie, but i still doubt it is most watched of our "generation". i'm thinking more along the lines of the star wars or LoTR trilogies.

Since I was only 2 when the final star wars came out, I don't consider it to be part of MY generation. LoTR, I think they are great, but not watch nearly as much as the Matrix, I just don't think a lot of my Generation has the ability to watch this, especially multiple times (I've seen all of the movies probably twice, which is slightly more then average I would say, I've seen the matrix at least 5 times, which is probably right around average).

I think OP might be on to something, depending on the Generation.

BTW, using the general term "our generation" on an internet message board is really stupid.

the movie gained a ton of viewers b/c it was the first awesome DVD to come out. a lot of people bought DVD players specifically for it.

I loved it, f the haters.

i was refering to the newer SW trilogy. but yeah, perhaps the 20-something generation has seen the matrix more times than any other movie.

i also agree that the term "our generation" on a forum is near retarded.

Wait, is someone suggesting that the Episodes 1-3 Star Wars movies have been watched more than the original? Maybe I'm being ridiculous, but I have a hard time believing that.

(As a 27 year old, I'd contend that I'm from the same "generation" as today's college kids, FWIW. If you're trying to say "The Matrix is the most-watched film by people who were born in 1987," then you should say that.)
