A potential compromise: Turbo league revisited
This was brought up before (mets?) but didn't get a lot of steam. Maybe we can take advantage of the current turbo trend and get it going.
Here's the idea: We get a group of people who want to regularly play turbos to form a turbo league. All games will be 13 player turbos. Games will go 3 or 4 days a week. Maybe Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday or throw out Tuesday. Games would start at 10:30 or 11 Eastern. Weekday games would be standard. The Sunday game would be standard or add some sort of wrinkle - something like Madtown's quirks or masonry or something like that. I would be happy to mod and/or organize this. For standings and so forth the only thing that would matter would be wins and losses. No pog $ or any of that other crap. We could also just go with not keeping any record and just have regularly scheduled 13 player turbos. The way we could do this would be to have how ever many people want to sign up do so (and leave it open if people want to sign up after they see how super bitchin' it is). Then the day of the game if you want in you send me a PM. I start the signup thread at let's say 7 pm Eastern with all the names on it who have PMed me. If more than 13 send me PM we rand() to see who makes the cut, otherwise it's open to whoever else wants to sign up in the signup thread. Thoughts? Jared |

I'd do this fairly consistently.

Re: A potential compromise: Turbo league revisited
Something that may help with this, as discussed in pogchat last night: maybe long games could end a bit earlier -- say 8 PM Eastern. It'd leave enough time for a turbo to fit in there for Eastern/Central timers that have to get up for work in the morning, etc.
If we could get a few consecutive long games to push their nightfalls up to 8 PM, at least to test it out, it might be worthwhile. I can't really see any downside to this; there's no particular reason long games need to go until 10 or 10:30 in the first place, unless the mod simply can't be online for regular 8 PM night falls. |

Re: A potential compromise: Turbo league revisited
i would want a rule that if you don't play once in a given week without some form of advance notice your stats reset on the official tlb

Re: A potential compromise: Turbo league revisited
My problem with something like this is I can only really be here for sure for like two nights a week.
I would be afraid this would alienate people like me who can't for sure be here often enough from playing turbos at all as its likely others wouldn't get going much. |

Re: A potential compromise: Turbo league revisited
Oh I misread Durron's quote.
Once a week would be totally cool. |
