Kevin Kim Flops A Boat
Ryan Lawrence raised 40,000 and Kevin Kim called. The flop was J99. Both players checked. The turn was the T. Lawrence checked, Kim bet 40,000 and Lwrence check-raised to 120,000. Kim called. The river was the A. Lawrence fired out 200,000 and Kim called. Lawrence showed 5-5, while Kim flipped over J-J for a full house.

"I thought he had quads," Kim said. "I was scared."

Hmmm, I thought Jennifer Tilly had busted out awhile back. Anyone else think that this is just terrible?

[/ QUOTE ]

Lololol at least say, 'I thought he hit his A for a bigger boat...' Jesus....

Though, to be results oriented, he wasn't getting a raise called so that's about as much value as he was going to get.

Unlike last year, the pros seem to be more highly represented. I like the chances of at least one pro making the FT of the Main Event.

I don't know about the success of 2+2 players compared to last year since I wasn't around though.

I think Rizen and technologic were the only 2+2ers still alive at this point last year. It's possible I'm not remembering someone else, though.

Not that I'm any good at MTT poker or anything, but how the heck do you end up all in preflop with Tens there when you've got a reasonable chipstack.

[/ QUOTE ]

Go watch the last US Poker Championship and you will see two guys 5 and 6 bet each other with complete trash. I think both went on to the FT, not sure.

If you have a read your opponent is weak, then why not get it all-in?

Obv that's the answer, but that's a hell of a read.

Unlike my girl's call with AJ vs TT, when she was short enough that a coinflip was pretty obv, TT's just ahead of so few hands in a dude's likely range in that spot. Seems like Gus had way too many chips to be flipping there.

<3 to Jurollo!!! I didn't have anything to do with it and I'm still proud of your showing at this WSOP. You made several years worth of a hard working Engineers salary in a few weeks. While it isn't the windfall that could have been, it's an awesome accomplishment and a great 'start' on what's to come. gg bro.

He doesn't need to be ahead, he just needs 39% equity. (If, as the post says, he's calling $550K to make $1400K). Even if his opponent plays AK and overpairs only, Gus is at 33% equity already and almost there.

Also, I assume Gus is playing for first, unlike everyone else who is playing to make money, and even taking the worst of it to accumulate chips may be a good strategy for finishing first.

Still, when going deep in the WSOP, I think it's fair to be results oriented.

WOW

You are telling me that deep in the WSOP ME, after getting sucked out on by a terrible call as a big stack, that's not the one time you might be a little affected by the loss?

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't know we were allowed to be results oriented based on the situation. Thanks, you've opened up a whole new world to me!
