Re: TPWK turns into a boat line check
You have to value bet your hand on the end. Any non queen or queen with a weak kicker checks behind you. While your hand is strong enough to check raise the river most hands that the button holds are not strong enough to value bet the end even a Q. your flop and turn call indicate a Q, so depending on his kicker there is no sense getting into a raising war on the river. Just check behind and show it down and hope your(his) kicker wins the pot. IMO!

Re: TPWK turns into a boat line check
I would usually fold PF, but other than that, nh.
I like trying to play a small pot with weak trips like this, since worse hands will rarely play with you. On the river, if he has a decent Q, he's usually gonna bet with it, especially since you're SB, and could have Qx, and we'll see soon enough if he'll call a c/r. If he's bluffing, or has a weak made hand, he's not gonna pay off a bet, anyway. |

Re: TPWK turns into a boat line check
I'm curious why you didn't bet the flop? Other than that, given your flop check you played the hand fine. Also, I disagree with those saying the button is going to check behind with a queen. When its three handed, the calling ranges greatly decrease. Of course it is entirely player dependent, but the majority of opponents will bet river with a queen. Thus, if they have a queen they most likely bet, and will have a hard time folding the river check raise. whereas if you lead out they will most likely only call, even with a strong Q, and if they have A8 or some oddly played pair they will fold. The only time I would lead out is if villan never bluffs river, or you are almost certain he has something decent.
