Default 4 handed 100/200 blindwar hand

Very early in the session, villain is decent but not great. I'd say the lower spectrum of decent, too. Don't really know his general operating procedures...but he's like a 26/14/1.5 for those that like numbers. No previous hands to base anything off of.

I open TT in the sb, he calls in teh bb.

Flop 962 with 2 hearts, I have the T of hearts.

Bet call.

Turn As

bet call

River 8h

River play?

If he's semi-decent, and looking at those stats, he'd probably 3-bet preflop with an ace, right. Wouldn't he raise a flush draw somewhere (flop?) too.

So I think you often have the best hand here, and I really want to value bet this since I think he will pay off with some hands like a pair of 9's and maybe 6's that he'd probably check down. Maybe he planned to pop you on the turn with his pair, but the ace froze him. I'd hate to get raised on the river though, since I wouldn't know what the hell to do, probably fold, but I hate folding with a decent pair in HU blind battles.

On the other hand, checking could induce a bluff out of a hopeless hand that won't call a bet since the 8h is a good scare card. Was it Sklansky/Malmuth that said to check it if a raise would make you sick?

Seems like a close one, I'm leaning towards a bet.

I think check-folding here is your best bet. The draws seem to have gotten there and I cant imagine such a mediocre player betting the checked river without a made hand

I really don't think you can check fold this river.

Agreed. If I check it is with the intention of calling.

This is a horrible, horrible idea. A check here is with the intention of calling.

If by check-fold, you meant check-raise, you would be less wrong.
