now would be a particularly bad time to mention that if the yankees make the playoffs, in all likelihood they would play the angels in the DS with them having home field. cleveland has a really small chance at finishing with a better record than LAA, and seattle has a roughly 20% chance at winning the division according to the bp odds report. but seattle playing well enough to finish above the angels would be bad for the yankees, as it would make winning the WC harder. as much as I have spent the last several days arguing with all my friends who are convinced that the angels just own the yankees with their smart baserunning and bc theyve won the last two postseason series against us... uh, id really feel a lot more comfortable playing someone else. I am curious where a sportsbook would set the line for a 5 game laa vs nyy series, if laa had homefield I am guessing a very small edge for NYY or even? I am making that up though.

I don't think many people would give the edge to NYY if it was NYY @ LAA for the DS 5 game set...

at least Betemit and A-Rod made it look at a bit better... and A-Rod did hit two more today. what a stud.

NYY has a solid edge in 3rd order W% (.582 vs .529) and pythag (77-49 vs 71-54). those will shift a little towards LAA bc of tonights beatdown, but still. I figured NYYs edge in expected records + LAA homefield + short series = slim edge for NYY. Id be shocked if la was a favorite, no way.
