You're just now starting to worry about Marquis? He's been dogshit for seasons.

Not Great, but not dogshit for a #5 guy who moved upto #4 this year
Last 3 years Team G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 2004 STL-------- 32 32 15 7 0 0 0 201.1 215 90 83 26 70 138 3.71 1.42 .275 2005 STL-------- 33 32 13 14 0 3 1 207.0 206 110 95 29 69 100 4.13 1.33 .262 2006 STL--------- 7 7 3 4 0 0 0 42.0 48 31 28 7 17 20 6.00 1.55 .294 Career----- 168 111 45 40 1 3 1 758.0 775 402 358 102 294 476 4.25 1.41 .266 He started excellent and is overthrowing the ball right now. He's gone through funks like this before, so I expect him to work his way out and be the just above .500 pitcher he is. If Ponson was healthy, I could see a skipped start or two with Wainwright stepping into the rotation. 20-13 The Rockies are beating up on the NL Central right now |

Just let me have my hate for Marquis, ok? Sheesh.
Over the past couple weeks the program guide on TiVO has been listing Cards games on FSN, but they always end up inexplicably showing Auburn v. LSU baseball or something retarded like that. Lately they've been broadcasting Reds games. WTF. |

Marquis has been somewhat lucky the past few years, for someone who has as little talent as he does(compared to other major league pitchers). This is someone who has NEVER had a season WHIP below 1.33. He HAS had ERAs below 4 twice, but he was lucky in both cases, because one year he had a 1.42 WHIP and a 3.71 ERA. His ERA should have really been around 4.50. Marquis is basically a league average pitcher- maybe even a little worse. He doesn't really strikeout that many and he doesn't have amazing control either. Marquis = weaksauce. |

Pujols is 14th in batting average. And can I just say that I don't understand the logic behind having a triple crown award? I guess they didn't have sabermetricians back then so they didn't realize what a flawed statistic batting average is for measuring offensive worth... |

well...Izzy's looking servicable again, which definitely boosts the season outlook. Albert stays on his 6 year hot streak with another homer. Suppan got the job done. Encarnacion is coming around.
When's LaRussa going to start believing in J-Rod and Luna? 22-13--tied for 1st in the central 9-3 series record |

I keep telling myself that LaRussa must know something about J-Rod to keep yanking him around, but I can never quite bring myself to believe it.

Re: *** Official St Louis Cardinals to the 2006 World Series Thread **
Houston is fading and is vunrable, and most people feel Cincy is a mirage. However, StL is certainly a flawed team as well. How many wins is it going to take to win this division? Will the wild card also come out of the central?
