if they want the "main Event" to be relevant, the best move would be make it some sort of points system based on the other 43 events(guessign the number) and then only those who qualify can buy in. I like the idea that any Joe Schmo can buy in for 10k and "have a shot" but in the past few years i've always been more interested in the TOC because you had to earn your spot. Most reports I heard this year, everyone knew the 50k horse event was the true "championship caliber" event because of the high buy in removing the amateur aspect

yeah a fastpaced limit-donakment is about 110% skill.

funny how they say just because its several games u cant egt lucky.

yes its more probable a known pro wins this, so?

they should have a 50K NLTH/PLO, or like 10K NLTH/PLO.

The obvious change would be to increase the buyin. If it's the world championship, it should have the highest buyin. It did in the past, but hasn't kept up with inflation and the poker boom. It should be at least $25K, like the WPT Championship, but I think $50K is better.

Then change the structure (stacks and blinds) back to what it was last year. I like buyin = number of chips you get.

How about like 2500/5000 blinds and 20k starting stacks and blinds double every 2 hours?
This way there will be a lot of great pressure on EVERYONE not just the short stacks and as an added bonus the tournament will also be a lot quicker.
Seriously wtf "I wish they weren't so deep stacked in the final table" are you retarted???
Yeah I hate every poker tournament that isn't a shove fest.

Doesn't matter. The final table is just a glorified handicapped SnG. No minor blind changes would change that. Only a complete and total overhaul could correct the situation.
But any change will alienate a large percentage of the viewers.

6x bb raise preflop seems standard for these luckboxes so it really doesn't matter.

having twice as many chips on the felt per person as in previous years was overkill in my opinion.

[/ QUOTE ]

The starting stacks doubled but so did the blinds, 2006 you started with 200 big blinds and in 2007 with 200, not overkill. It was the same as far as I know, the most that would have made a difference is if they added another level or something, which they might have (not a bad thing anyways if they did).

Even though the final table was deep stacked it didn't really matter, they were all playing like short stacks, except maybe Tuan Lam.

They doubled the starting stack to 200k AND doubled the starting blind levels.

No tournament starts with 200k in chips. They did double it from 10k to 20k to make it good for TV when they can say "he's got 120 million DOLLARS in the pot!!!" when it's not dollars, its 120 million fifty-cent pieces! lol
