Default Micah Owings

This guy is awesome.

7 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 7 K for the W on the mound and 4-5, 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI at the plate. This is the best game I've seen anyone have in a long time.

Blurb from Tulane University Website about the 2005 season:

"Season Highlights (entering CWS): Played in 61 games as a position player - including 36 starts at first base, 19 as the designated hitter and five in left field - and also started 18 games on the mound...named second-team Louisville Slugger All-American, Conference USA Player of the Year and first-team All C-USA utility athlete after leading the team in home runs (18), triples (3) and slugging pct. (.733) at the plate while posting a club-best 131 strikeouts, 9.61 strikeout-per-nine average and a 6.24 strikeout-to-walk ratio from the mound...offensively, leads the team in RBI (63), while ranking second in total bases (151) and on-base percentage (.472), third in batting average (.354) and walks (41), and fourth in doubles (18)... as a pitcher, paces the club in opponent batting average (.232) while ranking second in ERA (3.38), innings pitched (122.2) and wins (11)...leads C-USA in home runs and slugging percentage while ranking third in on-base percenatage, fourth in total bases, sixth in walks and ninth in batting average, offensively...as a pitcher, ranks second in the league in wins, strikeouts, strikeouts looking (39) and innings pitched, tied for third in wins, fourth in opponent batting average, and fifth in ERA...earned C-USA All-Tournament honors as a pitcher after giving up just one run on six hits while striking out nine and not allowing a walk in a 7.0-inning start vs. Houston (May 28) in the semifinals...ranks fourth on the team with 21 multiple-hit games, including four-hit games against UAB (April 3), Charlotte (April 9) and Alabama (June 4)...also has a team-best 19 multi-RBI outings, including a season-best five RBI vs. Memphis (May 6) when he went 2-for-3 with a home run and Alabama (June 4) in day two of the New Orleans Regional...posted eight-or-more strikeouts 11 times, including four double-digit K contests and a career-best 12 at Charlotte (April 8)...had an 11-game hitting streak from April 26-May 20 when he hit .410 (16-for-39) with five doubles, four home runs and 18 RBI."

He seems like a very good hitter at the plate. He can hit for sure. The home runs he hit were absolute monsters. I've never seen a pitcher hit two home runs that were that huge.

His stuff didn't look very good on the mound, though. Mostly, he just ran in to a Brandon WebbLagged Braves' bats.

He's always been a good hitter. There was no denying that. And his stats will never really jump out at you pitching wise. Even when he was 10-0 at AAA last year his real strength was pitching himself out of jams that he found himself in. He really has a knack for that.

Well, not quite. Ankiel was playing OF at the time (obviously no longer pitches).

By that logic, Stan Musial has done the same thing. As has Babe Ruth.
