I've read the books, and think I know what I'm doing, but I have trouble putting it all into practice.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's your problem. Forget anything you've read in a book and pore over everything in the FAQ here, get and use SNGPT, and post hands.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm, that's interesting because in my pondering over where I'm going wrong, I realised that before I'd read all the books I was at least breaking even. I may not have known the reasons for doing what I was doing, or the technical terms like semi-bluffing and fold equity but I got the job done mostly.

Anyway, as promised, a hand!

The interesting thing about this is how I got to only 890 chips. I hadn't played a hand all game (except from blinds)! I had been dealt absolute trash, and with the blinds getting up I felt like I needed to make a move at some point.

If it was going to be HU I think I would have called without hesitation, but with the extra player to act i'm not so sure.

Maybe I shouldn't think so much at $6? Anyway, any thoughts...

Oh yeah stack sizes:

Seat 2: Oak711 (2450 in chips)
Seat 3: bwylie83 (2120 in chips)
Seat 5: kasha54 (3100 in chips)
Seat 7: cheap call (1405 in chips)
Seat 8: hero (890 in chips)
Seat 9: JerDen#1 (3535 in chips)

this is an easy fold. You are out of position and can easily be dominated by a better ace or pocket pair.

Does it matter if you are OOP when you are going to be all in?

Edit- I don't think this is an easy fold, and with your chip stack would usually get this all in, but a read on the CO could be helpful.

I'd fold the ATs. Being first in and getting fold equity is huge in SNGs and you have none here.

Ignoring UTG+1's limp, this is a call/push if CO is wider than 11%. Whether this specific hand is a fold depends more on what that limp means and what CO's standards are for raising over it. Without the limp, I get in here without some kind of extreme read on CO.
