Default Most vig you\'ve ever seen at a sportsbook?

Right now, Bodog (king of vig) has the following prop posted:

Odds On: Will the winning team on CBS' The Amazing Race 11: All-Stars be two males, two females or mixed?
Two Males 5/6
Two Females 5/4
Mixed 5/17

Are you kidding me? -120, +125, -340? That's almost got vig WITHOUT the huge favorite. Pinny classifies the vig as 176% market, 43% theoretical hold. 43% vig -- 10 times a 20-cent line! I'm almost convinced they meant to write 17 to 5, which would result in a much more Bodog-esque 18% hold.

Has anyone ever seen something this big or bigger on a relatively small field?

Bodog has holds like that all the time.

CRIS had 45% on the NBA skills competitions last weekend.

knicknut,

Yeah, usually not in something so well balanced. I typically see it when they misprice a 100-1 chance at like 10-1 and do this on several things... in addition to their insanely high vig.

I wanna say sportbet has a 200% market for MLB futures. Not positive though.

I remember standing in the IP book one day, and hearing a guy saying, "I was just looking at the NBA Future prices next door at the Flamingo. There are eight teams left (this was during the playoffs), and no team is higher than 2-to-1!"

I've bet -300 on photo finishes on dog races before, only to discover that that was the outsider and that the favourite wasn't even quoted.

during last year's PCA, the atlantis sportsbook had some amazingly bad super bowl odds. the jaguars were probably a 80-1 shot or worse before the playoffs began. in the second half of their first round game, with jacksonville down 10, they were going off at 15-1. this was the highest payoff for any team.

wait a minute, 18% is bodog-esque? that gave me a good chuckle. maybe you left out a digit.

also i know nothing about american idol but would bet the max on the 17-5 just based on straight math.
