Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
I *hate* sitting behind the plate. The backstop/screen/net is a PITA. Every time you try to follow a thrown/pitched/batted ball with your eyes, you lose it for a second when it crosses the edge of the net in the foreground.
I'll take anything low and near a dugout, preferably on the third base side. |

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
When I go to the Jake, I like to sit in the dugout suites if I can get tickets.
But other than that, usually lower deck above the dugouts or in the outfield. |

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
I like the first couple rows by the on deck circle. Especially if there's a good heckler.

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
I go to 20-30 games a year at Petco.
Here are the sections I recommend: 126-134, try to get first four rows. This is left field box. 101-115, any row. These are infield box. Those would be my two preferences if I was willing to spend the cash. DO NOT sit in the view level. Toyota Terrace (i.e., loge) is very overpriced, although they are good seats. DO NOT sit in right field. If you go to the padres.com website and go to "ticket marketplace" you can buy tickets from season ticket holders. It is a GREAT way to get premium tickets, sometimes for not much more then face value. I would try very hard not to be under an overhang. You are in San Diego, you want to be "outside." Give yourself time before the game to walk around the stadium. Petco has some neat features, and the councourse goes around the park and has tons of good "standing room only" spots, so we often spend an inning or two wandering around watching the game from different perspectives. You must go up to the "Western Metal Hall of Fame bar and grill." If it is not reserved, you can get out on the patio and watch some of the game from there, although you need to know the "rules" for standing in line, etc. Arrive early and you may be able to walk out and sit down and have a beer and watch BP from up there. This is a big-time hangout place for me. Staff is awesome. Also take time to walk out to the "park in the park" and check out the new Tony Gwynn statue. Pre-game recommendation is "The Tin Fish" right next to the ballpark, although it's jammed up with crowds these days so finding patio seating is tough. Good pregame atmosphere though. Hope all this helps. |

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
Camden Yards:
Right field (Eutaw St) section. Cheap, good view, chance at home run balls. Front section of upper deck behind home plate. Cheap. Awesome view of everything. |
