Party $50NL - bottom two vs resistance from loose passive
Villain is 36/6/1 after 200+ hands with a WSD of 30%. I can't quite get a handle on his post flop play, but he generally seems to be a calling station, except that he often bets quite big on the river. I'm playing TAG but am not catching much and have folded to his river bets a couple of times.
A few hands he's played this session (on a different table where he's directly to my left): I open from the button, he calls with A9 from the SB, he check/calls a 5 8 9 flop and the turn 6 and river 6 are checked down. I open from the button, he calls from the SB, he check/calls pot on a T Q K two suited flop, and bets the pot on an offsuit J turn, I fold. On to the hand: $50 NL Texas Hold'em Hero is SB with $49.10 BB $60.66 UTG $43.96 MP Villain $119.16 CO poster $15 Button $50 Dealt to Hero [ 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ] UTG calls [$0.50]. Villain calls [$0.50]. CO times out Button folds Hero calls [$0.25]. BB checks. Pot $2.50 ** Dealing Flop ** [ 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ] Hero bets [$2]. BB calls [$2]. UTG folds Villain raises [$8] What's my action? And if I'm neither folding nor pushing, what's my plan for the rest of the hand? |

Make it 18, BB folds, villain calls, get it in on any turn.

Facing such a coordinated board oop, you need more than 4 clean outs to continue.

I guess the strength of the loose passive read really matters here. If I'm sure he's passive, I let it go.

Except for one thing: Some players, though generally passive, tends to play TPTK fast on boards with a flush draw (though they never worry about a straight for some reason). FWIW, this guy could be one of those people. PS: I suck at playing two pair, and bottom two especially so |

Re: Party $50NL - bottom two vs resistance from loose passive
I really hate this hand. A lot. Isn't this likely an over pair trying to protect itself? I think a reraise is for Hero's stack but I can't see getting away from this. But then again my winrate is exactly 0 over the past month or so, so maybe I don't know what the hell I'm talking about... |

Re: Party $50NL - bottom two vs resistance from loose passive
He didnt raise preflop so an overpair is less likely. I call here and see what he does on the turn. If im gonna get it in, I'll do it on the turn.

Re: Party $50NL - bottom two vs resistance from loose passive
Fold, your dont know what good outs you have and you are probably not going to be payed of if you improve to a straight, most likely you are drawing to 2 good outs (so you get payed off)
