I'm guessing your sample size at one of those levels was small

Yeah I did not take the time to make it converge. I did not care at all I have to admit.

Im break even 45k hands at 25NL (tilt bad play and learning poker). I couldnt for the life of it beat it. im 3.5ptbb/100 over 20k hands at 50NL (I quickly moved up from that hell).

Then i ran like 6.5ptbb/100 first 30kish hands at 100NL and thought it was somehow so much easier. Lately iv been tilting a bit and sometimes playing like 30/25 (the rake kills you if you do) and running pretty bad (kk down and all) , so iv won a lousy 2.5ptbb/100 the last 30k hands. But this could easily more then double if it wasnt for tilt and playing too loose at times.

So i dunno, i could try to log a significant amount in at 25NL and see if its really unbeatable for me still.

Oh and 200NL seemed a bit harder, but if you adjust well and know how to fight some of the tags and spewing lags then you can have a sick winrate there too. Iv experienced very bad side of variance there tho. So no 200NL for me, also since i cashed out.

basicly i got started at 100NL by bonuswhoring .

I grinded back to almost 6k now since i did some cashing out, and will play 200NL when i got 7k . I discovered that i start tilting too fast if i dont apply nitty bankroll guidelines. Also I have some big swings as my playing style is a bit different from standard tag game.

Well i beat 25NL for 2.81ptbb/100 lifetime (19K hands) before moving up to 50NL.

I am playing 100NL with 5ptbb/100. Should I have stayed at 25Nl because I didnt have a good winrate there?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know, I always thought a positive winrate is a good one by nature. On the other hand I don't have a clue how big the difference between 2.81 and 5 is at the table. And if it's comparable to the difference between -1 and 1.19, in which case I'd be naive enough to assume "learning the game" might not be the best reason not to move up.

And I actually expected to be playing like this permanently at 100NL. Good to know ...

So back when I first started playing cards I had a friend of mine that I played with all of the time. This guy was absolutely amazing at taking like $5-10 and in the course of an evening turning it into $100. He would start at 5NL...then move up to 25NL....then 50NL....then lose the whole $100 at 100NL every time. It was the most hilarious thing, but he easily blew through $2k that way. I always asked him why he didn't just play anywhere from 5-50NL and he always said that if he played there longterm he went crazy and eventually donked it all off.

Not that this story has much relevance to the topic (other than pointing out how certain playstyles can really thrive at one level and get creamed at the next), but it is always a funny one to me. He and I actually talk about it from time to time and the fact that he was the best person at turning $5 into $100 in a night haha.

He was a donk and built that up from a $20 buy in. my read was that he has no idea how to play top pair with more than 40bbs.

I'm not real sure where to post this question about equity and pot odds so I'll put it here.

Let's say you're closing the action in a hand. For simplicity's sake say your opponent bets 20BB into a 40BB pot on the river. The pot is now 60BB and you're deciding whether to call or fold getting 3:1 odds. Since you're closing the action, do you include the price of your call in the total pot size when estimating equity? (60BB+20BB=80BB/20BB ==> 4:1 ==> >20% equity = +EV)
