Default boxing lessons

I am taking some time off of my martial arts training to take some boxing lessons. already in good shape, and there is a legendary gym near me (gleason's in brooklyn). they don't have anything about classes on their website, so I'm just going to go down there and ask them about lessons/training.

any tips? things to ask about, look for and avoid?

I've never been to Gleasons and am very envious. Please post trip report after your first workout.

There are already a couple of threads on this subject here (try the search function, n00b ), but if someone starts trying to have you spar right off the bat, they're likely more interested in you as gym fodder than they are in teaching you anything.

Edit: Try this thread.
