Default Stock Screeners

is screening stocks through parameters a good way to get a list of stocks that may( but not necessarily) be worthy of investing in?
if so..what are some good stock parameters to punch in to the screener?

a screener, like the ones you can download from "msn money" or "yahoo finance" , http://screener.finance.yahoo.com/newscreener.html where you are able to type in several stock parameters (criteria that you use in evaluating a company) to filter out the bad stocks, once you have your complete list of stocks that meet your criteria, you analyze those to see which ones are worthy enough for investing in.
...i have never used one myself, that is why i am writing this post. ... to see if stock screeners are helpful and beneficial to investors..... and which stock screening parameter criteria is most beneficial.

well I guess it can be of some value
I never used one myself (I don't think I have)

It probably helps but not a whole lot.
ie. it won't help you pick winners

yeah but if you are looking for undervalued stocks, whats more likely to be undervalued than those trading at their yearly low? Some will be dogs but others will be beaten down below their true value.
