Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I wish I could do this but, as pathetic as it sounds, I just can't afford the $100+ right now.

Ugh, this college [censored] is killing me.

I've got a friend who would almost certainly be interested if we can't fill out the league. Let me know if I need to ask him.

I am 100% sure that this league is a "go" and can also easily fill any remaining spots. I'd prefer to have mostly new guys though.

Also, we do need to get this going so people can start sending cash to Matt, discuss divisions, league name, etc.

I was thinking about this yesterday, actually, as I read over the rules.

Since this league is a very unique format, do you think that you (and to a much lesser extent, Matt) have an advantage over us because of your experience with it? Is there a way to even it out a bit -- maybe letting us look over rosters from the other league or something.

Yeah, I'm a nit.

Of course there's an advantage. Moreso for me than Matt since I've been through the process and been in the league far longer (Matt hasn't even done a full season yet, just the offseason (which is the best part)).

Matt posted my and his rosters already. And once we get a confirmed 16 players, I will start a Q&A thread (or keep it in this one) so that people can ask questions and everyone can see the answers.

Really though, the best piece of advice I can give, is twofold:

1. Use www.basketballmonster.com to get a general idea of player values. The fact that this league uses 2% and 3% instead of FG% and 3M is kind of a big deal.

2. Think up front of how you want to build your team. I've seen countless teams over the years with top 4 talent not make the playoffs because they were poorly constructed and didn't excell at anything. Teams win in the regular season by being balanced and pummelling the bad teams. They win in the playoffs by taking away key categories from their opponents.

We kick this sucker off with a traditional draft, right?

Now that I think about it, the offseason is really where the unique format comes into play -- and by then, we'll have a bit of experience with it.

I'm really pumped for this.

Traditional draft with slotted salaries. So the first round is all max guys. Like the #32 pick is assigned a salary of say 8.2, the #60 pick is like 5.1, etc.
