Washington is easily the best. He was non-partisan and had practically the unanimous support of his contemporaries. He was a good leader at a time when the country needed one. Plus Martha was hot.

"specifically, Andyfox, could you elaborate on why Nixon was far and away the worst?"

Vietnam, Watergate, Kissinger.

"Did I make any liberals puke yet?"

One, for sure.

Just one comment on your citation of Mr. Greenspan's book. Indeed, the economic situation in the Communist world was far worse than most anyone had thought. Whose voice was it that had consistently told us ad inifinitum that it was in fact far better than our leaders had either known or were letting on and that we had in fact vastly underrated their economic capabilities?

Washington, hands down. Set a host of precedents too numerous to list, lent his prestige to legitimize the office and shepherded the nation through its infancy.

So you approve of how Nixon managed the war. Great. Maybe we should destroy Syria and Jordan through secret bombings and a web of lies, unnecessarily kill a few hundred thousand more brown people, all on our way out of Iraq just so you can laud that exit as well. [censored] idiot.

Never said that. The person I was responding to seemed to be implying that it was all his fault though, which it obviously wasn't. [censored] idiot.

The person you were replying typed a whole one word ... "Vietnam". All further implications were made by you, not him. Do you really [censored] think that anybody thinks Vietnam is all one man's fault? Are you really that quick to assume andyfox is that ignorant that you'd reply with that total cheap shot after he uttered a single word? You have issues.

I did not imply that it was all his fault. His fault was what he did when he was president. Add that to Watergate, what his henchman Kissinger did [Christopher Hitchens' The Trial of Henry Kissinger is a good place to start] and Nixon's contribution to McCarthyism, and you have the American who did the most damage to our country in the 20th century.

In Vietnam, Nixon got the same deal after five years of murder that he could have had when he got into office. This was after he subverted the peace talks while running for president. He should have been tried as an international war criminal for the former, for treason for the latter. His justification? "If the president does it, it's legal."
