live etiquette: he hasn\'t mucked but doesn\'t want to show \'em
OK, couple times I've gotten into situations in big pots where the other guy ends up making the last bet on the river, and i call him. I look at him, waiting for him to show his cards, and he says something like "you got it" or "you're good", but he's not mucking his cards, he's still holding on to them.
I know that from a rules standpoint I can force him to show his cards if he made the last action, and I also know if I have a killer hand it's pretty rude to do that. But let's say I've got a one pair hand, nothing that's going to get me accused of slowrolling. Is it rude to sit there and wait until he either shows his hand or mucks? Or if he tells me that I'm good should I just show my winner and move on?

force a muck or show, b/c if you turn your hand face up and by some odd chance his hand beats yours then he can turn his hand up and win. once it's mucked it is a dead hand and he can not win. plus if he mucks you don't have to show, you just need a live hand.

Some casinos allow any player involved in the hand to demand to see both hands face up, in which case his would be pulled from the muck and yours would be tabled as well. It's an "anti-collusion" rule, often abused by players simply wanting more information. In live poker it's rude to demand to see both hands unless you really suspect collusion. Online poker is awsome; we can secretly look at all the mucked cards without causing a fuss.

At Party 5/10 last night someone lied to me about their hand even after it was tabled and mucked. I had called a small raise all-in with 9c9x on a JcXcXc board. I hit a 9 on the turn to beat his JdTh. After the hand he's like "You hit a two outer! I had the Tc so I had you dead to rights!" Hahahahahaha!

But the rule in any club or casino I've ever played in NYC or AC is any player at the table, whether they were in the hand or not, can ask to see a players hand at showdown in a called hand. Many times the bettor says "Nice call" and mucks his hand and some nit at the table asks to see the winning calling hand before it's mucked. Bottom line is the rule is abused to the point where the players should be told no.

[/ QUOTE ] Last table I was at at Commerce in LA there was one guy who asked to see every hand whether he was in it or not, and the dealer turned it over. I wasn't that guy.
