Default Advantages of a Seeing Person Knowing Braille?

I was thinking about this yesterday. It seems like learning Braille would require a minimal commitment.

There could be some possibly +EV possibilities that are created by the ability to read without seeing the book or whatever.

These are a few I've come up with:

1. Being able to read without light for whatever reason (power out etc).
2. Having notes during an exam without being in plain sight.

The upsides are probably not very practical or worth the effort, but it are there any possibilities that are being overlooked?

Learning sign language is much more practical.

both your points are dumb.

it would be pretty cool to be at a museum with someone who was unaware of your talent and then nonchalantly perform. or even turn it into a big thing and pretend you're guessing and nail it.

but thats like a once every few years type of scenario

I think this would be much harder for a seeing person to learn than a blind person.

You could text-message while playing pocket pool like the guy in "The Departed."

I don't think this has anything to do with Braille.
