Why do people keep saying that the difference was that 5 yard penalty??? The Colts were going to just let the play clock expire and would have been penalized those yards anyways. The only way that penalty could have changed anything was if SD would have jumped offsides.

I am still most interested in seeing the proof of how Manning is better than mediocre without amazing offensive weapons surrounding him.

Well, heck, he still has a pro bowl wideout and a great running back and still played horrendous.

Cody is just as wrong as you are, if that makes you feel better.

that call maybe decreased the Colts win % by < 1 %.

[/ QUOTE ]

You are obv forgetting the fact that the Colts can copy and paste the 29 yd attempt into the 24 yd attempt and he would have made it.

[/ QUOTE ]

True or false, all other things equal, a 24-yarder is some % more likely to be made than a 29-yarder?

As a kicker, I know the answer to this, do you?

[/ QUOTE ]

Now demonstrate that that % is anything more than trivial.

[/ QUOTE ]

Edge, do you get the importance of this point? If the % went from like 95 to 93, how many points is that worth? Far less than 2. So its completely irrelevant.

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you serious?

Using expected points there is completely useless.

If it dropped from 95% to 93% then it would be worth probably 1.9% of a win which is what matters.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats pretty trivial, which was my point. But I am interested to hear the actual numbers here. Was there a single play in the 4th quarter that didnt impact the win likelihood by at least 1.9%, or whatever number we are using here?

Actually watch Dungy right as he sends Manning on the field he mouths either "snap it with 1 second" or "Timeout with 1 second". Anyone with Tivo/DVR help me out here? This would help in this discussion.

The false start penalty did not cost the colts the game.

Who agreed with this?

A solid 24-yarder in those conditions is MUCH easier than a 29-yarder.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll ask you for a 3rd time. define "MUCH". in %'s, how much easier is it?

Prove that Michael Jordan wasn't overrated when he didn't have outstanding talent around him, please.

I hate feeding the trolls, but sample size much?

And as for the talent, I'm not sure what to tell you.
