Default 88 against aggro opponent 1/2

Villain is like 28/23. Aggro. His standard raise is to 8. This is my 4th time 3-betting him since I've been folding to his raises quite a bit, and all 4 times he has gone ahead and 4 bet me. I folded the first 3 times.

I have about $350. Villain has me covered.

Villain raises utg to $8.
I 3-bet 88 to $24.
Folds all around, back to Villain who makes it $66.

Note this is the 4th consecutive time he has 4-bet my 3-bet.

I call.

Flop:
T, 3, 2 - 2 hearts. I have 8 of hearts.

Villain bets $100.
Hero has like 280 left and?

If this agro guy 4-bets you every time, would it be a better plan to just call his raise preflop and look for a set or something nearly as good? It seems to me that by 3-betting, you're just building a huge pot and putting yourself in a tough spot. With your hand, it may be hard to get it all in with on the flop if some ugly overcards come, and you didn't have the idea to 5-bet all in preflop. I guess this is a decent spot to take a stand and push, but I don't think I like the PF 3-bet against this guy if you don't have the plan on getting it all in right then or on a decent flop.

yes if you expect him to 4-bet don't 3-bet if you don't want to get reraised.

good advice both. I always thought that if someone was raising too much preflop for your liking, it was right to 3-bet them frequently. I guess that doesn't apply if they'll just 4-bet you everytime.

So...

as played, I pooshed. Villain called and had KK. I rivered an 8.

Grunched
(Note havent played any NL200 before, so not sure how much my opinion will help, but I'll throw my two cents in).

Ungh, I hate playing marginal situations like this. But sometimes you have to take a stand vs. players like this.

Well if your anyone but me anyways, I'll just stick my finger up my nose and say "Well, must have Aces, DIRK DIRK!" and muck every time for rest of session. Anyhow, back on topic.

Ok, we know villan is aggro. He very possibly has missed this flop. I can't see us floating him here unless you have floated him with success before. Pot will be just too big, he'll possibly stay aggressive on turn if a scare card hits and make us fold, plus we might be winning.

If we shove he does have the big pair/draw like AhKh then goot for him. If not then we will win the pot more than likely, and possibly folding out 99 if he would 4-bet that.

Finally I don't like folding here. We have a decient hand given his 4-betting frequency, and a large pot. Plus worse case scenario, short of TT, we have two fairly clean outs to the 8. Not much but every thing counts in these big pots.

I think I'd shove on paper. Of course in heat of action, well, DIRK DIRK!

Just read every thing above and agreed with all preflop advice.

Also make sure explain to the KK player that you had two clean outs to the 8's and that he is a terrible player for calling and that you are awesome. The 8 was coming. You knew it. He knew it. And that's that. Smoothe.

In any case, nice try.

lol afterwards I told him that the river 8 was his punishment for 4 betting me so frequently. If he woulda just folded to one of my previous 3 bets, I woulda folded to his 4 bet this time and he wouldn't have gotten stacked.

I don't think he appreciated my comments.
