embolden? How is the war as is not encouraging attacks on US interests? The US out of Iraq will take the wind out of their sails.

[/ QUOTE ]

we can agree to disagree. They'll just say "oh, the US gave up? We can just play nice then and go back to mosque".

While our current precense may encourage attacks and hatred for the US, us giving up and leaving the country to ruin make the problem 10X worse IMO.

And I'm sure you're joking with the other comment, but I seriously think most of you would leave the Iraqi people to whatever horrible fate awaits them just to save the US from bankruptcy and the mindless deaths of thousands of US troops

wasn't saying you were necessarily.

And I don't agree with what you said, but I do understand and respect that line of thinking.

So do you believe "victory" is a reasonable goal and is possible given the current strategy?

The Korean Conflict cost a total of 23 billion. What is that in today's dollars?

No, I'm saying the same thing I said above. That leaving Iraq and it's people to the inevitable gruesome fate that will befall them in the event of us just packing up and leaving is unacceptable. We must find another alternative. Whether that is in the form of "victory" or whatever you want to call it can be debated. But just abandoning the country will be a disaster.

And we've spent 173 billion this year alone on the Iraq War, with no progress by the Iraqi Govt.

I think continuing the war is the same as calling an all-in bet on the turn with a one outter to a Straight Flush, when it is obvious your opponent has a Full House.

From MSNBC Article today:
------------------------------

Two groups that normally support the Bush administration - white evangelical voters and conservatives - remained largely behind its war strategy.

Just over half of the white evangelicals who attend church at least weekly said the war was the right decision and the extra troops were helping, while about four in 10 said the war is a success.

---------------------------------

Well, at least GOD is on our side! *rolls eyes*
