Default Thank You, Gov\'t of Washington State

Moderators feel free to move this post to the BBV forum.

I am irritated after receiving this email tonight from Hoyle's Room:

[ QUOTE ]

Dear Player,

Due to legislation in the state of Washington targeting online gaming, we are no longer able to accept players from your state. We must therefore regretfully inform you that effective immediately we can no longer accept deposits to your account. You may continue to play your balance until November 30th at which time all real money game play will also be suspended. You will be able to withdraw your funds any time before or after November 30th.

Please note that the Doyle Brunson Poker Network is committed to continuing service within the United States. However, recent legal opinion received has prompted DBPN to at this time withdraw from certain states.

Withdrawals may be requested by logging into the poker client and issuing a withdrawal request in the cashier. After November 30th, you will no longer be able to play for real money on our site. If you wish to play for fun, that option will still be available to you using the same Screen Name and Password.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our accounting department.

Email : accounting@dbpn.com
Phone : 888-762-4192 option 5

I almost voted for Karen Keiser's Republican opponent, but decided to abstain instead. I should have voted against her out of spite.

Stupid, crappy, rainy state.

Casinos on every corner (with Poker). Lotto feeds the state millions and almost ZERO dollars/programs for problem gamblers. Bet the ponies from a local restaurant or bar? Come to Washington!

If they had a plan to TAX online poker they would welcome it with open arms.

WA State is a fukkkin joke.

I don't mind people that are anti-gambling, but the hypocracy of these politicians from pro gambling states drives me insane.

Speaking of hypocracy, this state circulates flyers for the Washington State Lotto for free tickets on scratch and lotto. This is clearly to induce more people to gamble.

They've used the same flyer, that I've seen, 3 times over the last year. I find it amusing that they put a quaint, cliche school on the back of it and say the juice goes to the poor school children.

These people spout off about how they want to save the children and compulsive gamblers. What data do they have on this? What studies? What about problem lotto players? Who cares about them as long as they do superficial things like post gambler help line numbers on store lotto LCDs, etc. Gotta love political rhetoric; it's all about the angle shooting.

There are studies that show the lottery is one of the most addicting forms of gambling and acts as a tax on the poor.

At one treatment center, 95% of those seeking treatment were for video lottery addiction. (This was in a state that had video lottery...whatever that is)

They never mention the fact you are more likely to get stuck by lightning than to win the big prize or that the state's cut is 44-50%. And of course it's okay to advertise the lottery, casinos, horse tracks, and any other game where the player has no chance to win in the long run. (I guess you can beat horse racing if you know enough to overcome a 15-20% take)

I'll take my chances in an unregulated poker game anyday.
