Default NL10 \"donīt be a coward\" vs. \"donīt pay them of all the time\"

Once again, I need some advice here, all comments are welcome and thanks in advance!

Ok, Iīm trying not to make bad laydowns īcos Iīm scared, and I am also trying not to pay them off all the time I have a strong 2nd best hand.
I am not doing very well.

So hereīs two hands, and in both hands I found myself left to a decision I really disliked.
In both hands, I believed the villain had me beat, but then there was some idea like "you donīt really now it for sure, this is NL10 mate, you canīt fold this!"

So please comment - thank you!

HAND #1

<u>reads:</u> This is some strange kind of player. His preflop range for cold-calling non-steal raises is insane -down to middlish unsuited one-gappers. This canīt be profitable in the long run. Now when I say "strange" it is because his postflop play is so well that I just cannot imagine how he can do this preflop gamble. He must notice. However, even though itīs my 1st session with him, he has such a hot run that I see him with a lot of very strong hands postflop. He plays them well, he plays them aggressive, and I didnīt see him do anything more deceptive then a check-raise. He might check-raise, he might make a loose call on the flop especially if a 2nd barrel may or may not come, but thatīs about it. Apart from that his gambling is all preflop. I didnīt see any real bluffs or so. Oh yes, and I have seen him preflop 3-bet with a premium hand.

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.05/$0.10 Blinds - 8 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $9.65
BB: $19.05
UTG: $22.85
UTG+1: $2.05
MP1: $13.40
MP2: $10.20
CO: $6.50
Hero (BTN): $9.85

Preflop: Hero is dealt T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (8 Players)
4 folds, CO calls $0.10, <font color="red">Hero raises to $0.60</font>, SB folds, BB calls $0.50, CO folds

Flop: ($1.35) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB checks, <font color="red">Hero bets $1.10</font>, BB calls $1.10

Turn: ($3.55) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB checks, <font color="red">Hero bets $2.50</font>, <font color="red">BB raises to $5.00</font>, Hero ???

<font color="blue">Ok, again:
- he can easily have a nine here.
- he really wants the money in here, I donīt think heīs bluffing.
- he is 3-betting preflop with at least QQ, likely JJ also.

Whatīs the plan?

If "call" then what do you do if the turn doesnīt bring a boat and he shoves?</font>

HAND #2

<u>Reads:</u> The villain here seems to be a tight ABC multitabler. Iīve got two questions here: is my flat-calling his 3-bet ok, and what do you do on the turn?

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.05/$0.10 Blinds - 8 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $16.00
BB: $10.15
UTG: $4.50
Hero (UTG+1): $10.00
MP1: $2.45
MP2: $15.45
CO: $7.40
BTN: $15.90

Preflop: Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (8 Players)
UTG calls $0.10, <font color="red">Hero raises to $0.40</font>, MP1 folds, <font color="red">MP2 raises to $1.50</font>, 5 folds, Hero calls $1.10

<font color="blue">Reasoning: he might be capable of folding JJ-, maybe AK to a shove. I also expect him to c-bet more or less all the flops here. So the plan is to only call his 3-bet, then bet out on any ace-flop to see where I stand, but to check-raise any non-ace flop. Is that idea ok? </font>

Flop: ($3.25) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, MP2 checks

Turn: ($3.25) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players)
<font color="red">Hero bets $3.10</font>, <font color="red">MP2 raises to $6.20</font>,

<font color="blue">Ouch! I guess his 3-betting range is something like JJ+, AK, sometimes 99,TT, AQs.
He is not doing this with a hand like "flush draw plus one pair", as he is clearly trying to get the money in, not trying to push me off of my hand.
Now I now he shouldnīt slowplay aces or sets given that the flop brings a flush draw, but what else can he have?

Whatīs the play here? </font>

Default Re: NL10 \"donīt be a coward\" vs. \"donīt pay them of all the time\"

you're getting almost exactly break even pot odds in hand 1 (without any implied odds being taken into account), so you can't fold to the minraise. i would probably call and fold to river shove w/o boat, but i'm not making that turn bet in the first place against a solid post flop player.

i would lead that flop, but as played you're almost certainly beat on the turn and have to fold imo.
