wow, Carlin now still enjoyable? His last HBO special, I thought he was going to blow his brains out on stage. He's forgotten what's funny and his shows are endlessly depressing. It's a shame what's happened to him - he should probably quit comedy.

[/ QUOTE ]
Ugh, really? I haven't seen him live in a while, and come to think of it, I haven't heard any of his new material in five or six years. But then, it was still amusing, if not the genius we've come to expect. The new stuff was nowhere near the best of its day, but I wouldn't have called it unlistenable.

[ QUOTE ]
You might've been saying 'Carlin at his peak is still funny to us now', which I agree with 100%.

[/ QUOTE ]
This is definitely true.

I thought Carlin at his best was only okay; lots of obvious ranting without a lot of funny. Recently he's just horrible, just bitter and totally without funny.

But I've never really liked the angry comedians that act like they're on a soapbox and rant and complain. I'd put Leary in that group, and a lot of the horrible female comedians are like that.

Dane Cook's comedy central special before he really got famous was hilarious, but I don't like most of his stuff anymore as he is just a giant hack now.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not only is he completely unfunny, he steals from people.

Kevin Brennans HBO one night stand special is the best stand up I've seen since Dave Chappelle...it might even be better. If anyone can find that somewhere online I'll ship money on stars.

He is not completely unfunny. His new stuff isn't as good as the old, but he has some good stuff.

That video is pretty lame. Even if he did get those jokes from somewhere else at least he made them better.

How can you think this is unfunny? Not so Kool-Aid

Where's the handle? is genius.

Yeah it's pretty pathetic, and it's a problem with a lot of comedians (Mencia / Leary etc). I also hate when a comedian will constantly reuse their old material. I understand it's not easy to just make some funny material overnight but enough is enough already.

The little bit I've seen of Jimmy Carr has been good stuff. I love his material, it's like nonstop random witty jokes, sometimes it even goes over your ahead a little bit. I'm going to watch more of his stuff later today and see if he is always as funny as the material he did on a Conan rerun recently. Speaking of Conan has he ever done standup? I mean he obviously does his show with a 15 minute monologue if you count what he does at the desk (which I would), but it's not really stand up comedy.

I read this a few years ago, it's a class speech at Harvard from Conan, extremely hilarious stuff. Link.

Also, for the life of me I can't find Chris Titus funny. I liked his show a little bit when he had one on Fox, but his standup is bleh to me. I watched his HBO special and it felt like he was giving a lecture instead of trying to be funny.

Jimmy Carr has to be funniest person on British tele atm. Defo worth checking out.
Bill Bailey has already been mentioned perfect if you've got a weird sense of humour.
Also Chris Rock always makes me lol.
