I want to own not rent
I live in an apartment and my lease is up in August. I'm finishing up my last year of college and I don't want to pay rent. What are my options?

Re: I want to own not rent
Move back in with your parents?
I mean, I don't get it. You want to own and not rent. You don't want to pay rent. Buy a house? |

Re: I want to own not rent
Try having money, that'd be the first step.

Re: I want to own not rent
Get pre-approved for a mortgage so you know what price range you can afford. Then find houses you like and lowball them.

Re: I want to own not rent
Depending on where you live, you might qualify for a low down payment mortgage as a first-time home buyer. You still need money for the downpayment, and you should understand that your monthly payments will likely be higher than when you were renting. But seriously, [censored] google it.

[/ QUOTE ] If you are very unsure of what you're doing, I would find someone you know who has bought a house (uncle/aunt, parent), and ask them. Or, head to the local library and check out "House Buying for Dummies." |
