Wait... you seriously can get someone to pay $180 for an old 30GB iPod? I call BS on this one.

The question presented, dear OP, is basically the level of quality of an iPhone vs. spending 200 more on it.
Your value of money is only known by you, therefore how much $200 means to you in respect to an upgrade would really be your personal opinion.
As for the iPhone, I very seriously doubt that there has not been at least 5 threads started about it previously, if it is reviews/opinions that you are looking for. Search.

Seems like a touchscreen ipod would be really annoying. I like being able to do stuff like skip a song while leaving it in my pocket.

That's why there's an easy-to-use locking system

EDIT: oops I can't read

Now I feel kind of stupid selling my 30G for 50 bucks and an old 20G iPod.

I have an iPhone and the best part of the media player part is the video. Movies are watchable on plane flights. I'd get it more for that than for a couple gigs of songs. Figure next year they'll get to 32g for the top of the line so waiting isn't a bad thing.

Yeah you can definitely get that much for it here. The markup is retarded if you try to buy one in a store.
