LOL at this entire thread. I never knew river tubing was that popular. In fact, I never knew it even existed in the first place. Looks like a crazy fun time though.

A few questions for all of the river tubing vets: How long do you typically stay on the tube? Is this like a full day thing?

What if you have to go to the bathroom? I assume going in the river isn't considered kosher...

Once you're done, do you have to walk your tube all the way up the shore to get back to your car?

Are the cops a problem? This can't be legal, right?

1. ya, its a full day to whole weekend thing. we start at about 9am, finish up about 4, set up camp, where the outfitters have a bus with all our gear to take us to the camp spot (usually they have showers etc there too). if just do a one day thing, its about 9 to 5, and a bus picks us up and brings us back to the cars.

2. ya, you pee in the river, you hold it otherwise imo.

3. its legal, just dont litter, or get too obnoxious

We usually aim for trips to be ~4 hours, but it really depends on how many sandbars you stop at during the trip.

Nobody gets out of their tube to pee.

You park a vehicle at the bridge where you'll be finishing so that you can drive all the people who have cars/pickups at the starting point back to the top who then come and pick up everyone from the bottom.

I think its legal here, but we had the dnr stop us from getting in the river once because we didn't have life jackets. We just drove to a different bridge, he saw us on the river later but didn't do anything to us. I'm not sure if there's actually a law for lifejackets or if he was just messing with us.

only done it once at apple river last summer. i didnt know what to expect and the main problem was not bringing enough beers because the float took about 4 hrs. plus halfway there is a spot for vball and stuff so its probably a 6 hr excursion. hopefully im going again this summer

My daughter's brownie troop went tubing down the Delaware 2 weeks ago. It was a nice way to spend a pleasant afternoon.

I guess we will just have to plan a OOT river tubing trip down the line.

We will just get 50-100 OOT personalities, pick a popular river, everyone flys out there, we rent some tubes, several coolers, and everyone floats down the river for a day.

Think of the chaos it will bring... and trip reports

One time the girls wanted to take a break so we stopped off on shore. I stepped into the brush to take a piss and apparently made contact with some type of prickly foliage. Nothing like scratching sunburned legs like an absolute mother [censored]!

Sounds like you ran up on some "itchweed." That [censored]'s a bitch.
