I'd definitely dump it on 5th, you're either a small dog or a huge dog and that's without even considering the dead jacks.

Re: Hows this fold? stud8
I hate calling fourth. Are you intending to call down or try to take the lead back on fifth if he bricks? I don't think either is a very good idea.
Sometimes I'll try to take the lead on fourth in hopes of either making him define his hand or reducing the cost to showdown. I think there's a lot to be said for just recognizing the crappy situation and folding a small pot, though. |

Re: Hows this fold? stud8
Life would be so much easier if you had a read on this player. But, minus the read, the majority of the time I am definitely raising him on 4th.
Unless he's a really bad player and/or doesn't pay attention very well, he knows that you raised coming in...(and for all he knows) you caught a very good card on 4th, so raising him right now should be able to accomplish some things for you: A)if he can pop you back while looking at an A2 board, he can have the pot. B)If you raise and he just calls, on the next betting round he will have to act first again (unless you hit an open pair, which, might not be a bad thing either) and if he happens to catch bad and checks, you should definitely bet here and NOT take the free card. Reason being, I've played with so many donkeys who will bet in this spot and all they have is a pair of 4's and a low draw, and that's AFTER the Ace raised on 3rd while also catching good on 4th (just like this situation). So, now when they catch bad on 5th, they are forced to check and will almost always be forced to check/fold, unless they want to go to 6th street with a hand that looks like 7544Q. On the flipside, if both of you catch good (low cards) on 5ht street and he goes into check/call mode, I'd probably take one more stab at the pot and take it from there. As I said earlier, though, this is so read dependant more than anything else. |
