"I just want to know if the leaders have the skills to drive towards whatever goals they have, even if those goals are self-serving. Do they have the chops or are they bumbling idiots?"

I don't think these are mutually exclusive. Our current leaders have the skills to drive towards their goals. But they are bumbling idiots. And ignorant arrogant ones.

interestingly enough - speaking of Dem's -

were you aware that 9 Republicans in KS have abandoned the party and are now running as Democrats in the upcoming elections?

One could argue the total lack of leadership on the part of Republicans for basic issues that America cares about is what caused these fine leaders to defect to the Democratic party -

in short - some folks have better things to do then pander to their base by bringing up useless amendments that have no chance of passing - and some folks are more concerned about their livelihoods when whether two guys can legally [censored] or not -

Their loss will be our gain - glad to see they caught up - since I defected 3 yrs ago -

The weakness of the democratic party is that they do not have any good leaders/politicians who are prominent in our party and can succeed as presidential material...this is why we're stuck with Hillary in 2008..she'll lose of course.

Our only hope was Warner but he pusssied out.

Forgetting ideology

A similar hypothetical :

"Forgetting medical qualifications, do you think Dr. Jones or Dr. Smith has the leadership skills required to perform your mother's cancer surgery? Admittedly, Dr. Jones has killed his last 40 patients, but I submit to you that if Dr. Smith had real leadership skills, he would have been able to stop Dr. Jones before he killed again. Therefore, Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones are equally bad, and you shouldn't care which of them operates on your mother."

I would appoint Bayh as CEO rather quickly.

I would hire Edwards as COO.

(I'd also have Bush in the Board of Directors. I'll let others elaborate.)
