iirc, December 21st 2012 is the end of a cycle in the long count Mayan calendar which doesn't directly translate into an apocalypse but more of a transition or major change in the world. The Mayans were amazing at predicting celestial events centuries or millenia in advance but is still not something to get worked up about.

yeah it's about a 4 century cycle. so assuming the world didn't end in 1604 or whenever the last one was, i think we are relatively ok
