Raiders were a good bet earlier this week. Not so much now.

I like Det here too, unless Culpepper starts. They are being weird about the QB situation. I think he may play.

If you're betting the Lions you want Culpepper to start. McCown has a much better grasp of the offense.

I bleed silver and blue but no way would I side with the Lions in this one. Our secondary is soooo soft and if McCown starts he might be looking to exact some revenge on the team that let him go.

If anything I'd look to the over 39 on this game. Oakland had a great pass defense last year but it was mostly due to teams running the ball to protect the lead in blowouts. Take this for what it's worth as well:

[ QUOTE ]
The Lions and Raiders are playing in McAfee Coliseum, which also is being used by the Oakland Athletics. As a result, part of the football field is grass and part is dirt, from the baseball infield.

"It's an issue, but we're both playing on it. They don't practice there," Lions quarterback Jon Kitna said. "It's a lot like playing on snow. The good thing is that you (offense) have an advantage -- the receivers know where they're going. You just deal with it. Would you rather not be on it? Of course, but it is what it is."

I don't think that makes up for the fact that Culpepper is miles ahead of him talent wise.

I know the Raiders make a lot of mistakes, but they seem to be getting this one right. McCown might not be as talented as Culpepper, but is Culpepper as talented as he once was? I guess we'll have to wait a few weeks to find out.
