Just came from a home game...yes I failed to make the money twice....sigh

Anyhow...Copags were the cards...after I busted out I began to deal....

Not a big fan of the cards...seemed VERY flimsy and slick...

Are Kems as good as they once were since being bought out by US Playing Card? I'm leaning towards Dal Negro and Modiano, but I'm gonna give the Desjgn a shot too...

The local casino uses Gemaco, I love the feel but the pips are all wearing off of the cards terribly...has anyone seen that with the Gemaco cards or are the defective seconds???

Thanks..Bossman

I have bought 4 set-ups of the new USPC KEMs and they are not the same. It isn't like night and day, but they just don't have the same texture or feel. Also, two of the 4 set-ups I bought were defective. The problem was that instead of having a consitent texture there were smooth spots on the cards that was more shiney then the rest of the card and was visable on both sides. Defective cards...well, I've got very little tolerance for that.

I think you'll be happy with Dal Negro, Modiano or Desjgn cards. All of them are better than KEM or Copag cards in my opinion.

One thing I want to mention about my comments from an earlier post. I said that the acetate Dal Negro and Modianos were the Cadillac of poker cards, and that's true, but they also carry a Cadillac price tag. Desjngs are great cards that are so easy to shuffle and deal and they cost much less.

I found some "Royal" playing cards at my school's book store. They're 100% plastic and feel very cheap, but they're only a buck a deck!! I couldn't pass 'em up. They're not horrible though, not my first choice, but I wouldn't have too many gripes if I had to use 'em.

We played with the Dal Negros tonight. Very nice cards! Unusual texture (sandpaper?) is kind of nice. Only gripe is that they seemed to be harder to pitch and would snag on the felt. A lot more exposed cards on the pitch than normal (normal for us is Desjgn, Kem, or Copag).

I've had bad problems with my Dal Negro set. The graphics wore badly, after only a short time. It "stained" the other cards too, as it wore off. Don't know if this was a temporary problem with production, since no one here is mentioning it. They're unusable for me though.

No problems whatsoever with KEM or Copag. KEM is absolutely classic in look (for better or worse). Some people say Copag fades, but I don't think so. They are basically washed out looking when brand new. You either like this, don't like it, or don't care. At first I didn't like it but now I don't care. Especially since they are a quality card. I like the back design, especially in the burgundy and dark green setup.

I have Copags four color, KEMs and more Copags. The four color Copags are really nice the KEM feel a little better but I got Jumbo Index and with the huge KEM JI you have to lift off half the card to spot the suit. Fournier are stiffer and have a great design, too.

I just ordered a set of bridge size KEM regular index last week, now people have me worried they arent going to feel as good as they used to. Im hoping they are the same quality as the KEMs that casinos use, or are those all the discontinued ones?

A+ are really good thick plastic cards. Kems are probably the best for a professional dealer but they are flimsy. You can purchase a good set of A+ cards for about $20 on ebay.

Dal Negro went through a really bad quality run last year. Without doubt, there's a lot of defective DN product out in the community right now. Most reputable vendors replaced them - some happily and quickly, some grudgingly and slowly - but some, not at all.

I personally purchased three different model DN setups where the ink would easily rub off with slight thumbnail pressure. My vendor was in the "grudgingly and slowly" category. What's worse, Dal Negro did not respond to my direct email complaints.

Net/net, DN is on my "don't buy" list; everybody else will get a chance before they get a second chance.
