Making weird bet amounts

I indeed think it is because ppl who are not paying attention think it's an all in.

Because with a normal bet there are only a few chips in the middle, but if you raise to 2567 it's a big pile of chips just as an all in.

Why is it that only top online players use this strategy though? I mean, you very rarely see see a beginner/average player making weird bets.

I think that the reason they do it is to piss people off. Also, what the guy said about not being able to read you. It's because when you are making these weird bets, you are making them when your stealing and also when you have the goods.

I'm not a top player but i start doing with when the antes start up becase:

1) it's fun
2) people seem to fold more often for whatever reason (confusion probably)
3) helps disguises the fact that i'm only raising like 2.2x BB into tight shortstacked BB sometimes [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

...and apparently some people (the OP at least [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] ) assume this to mean I am a 'top player.' I have no problem with my opponents thinking I am a dangerous opponent. Maybe that's why they fold so much!

At 1k-2k blinds a 4199 raise looks scarier than a 6k raise. Since if you took the time to type out that weird small raise, people think you must have a monster. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
