Default .25/.50 & .5/1 NL Cash Denominations

I'm getting the 500 NJ chip set. After doing some research I was thinking of the following breakdown for .25/.50NL and .50/1NL:

125 x .25
200 x 1.00
125 x 5.00
50 x 25.00

This should be fine correct?

Scratch the $25 chips...

125 @ .25/.50
150 @ 1
100 @ 5

What are you going to do with $25 chips in those games?

well i intend to play more .5/1 NL and the games tend to get fairly deep. i figured between 25-50 of the 25.00 would be the way to go...do you still think i should scratch the 25's?

My experience is that people really like being able to chip up to high value chips when they are doing well for the night. It just makes you feel like a high roller. So I would definitely keep the $25's.

I found that playing .50/1.00 90% of your stack is $1 chips
Playing 1/2 or 1/3 90% of your stack is $5 chips.

Having 2 stakes of 20 of .25cent chips becomes very annoying and old. The best bet is to have about 8 quarters each and then keep the rest the higher denom.

Just my .02 from my home ring games.

I would say that 500 chips is enough to run a game, but not enough to run the game that I prefer. I like having a LOT of chips on the table, so I prefer to have a TON of smaller denomination chips. I have enough that each player starts with ~ 20 x small blind chips.

But that's just me.
