I was trying to decide if the existence of the diabolist is a plus or minus for the demons. Seems like he's a weaker demon, barring unknown powers. He's a demon who can't always chat, and who might cause the demons to waste a kill/possession attempt on him before they know who he is, and who (before they know who he is) the demons might choose as a lynch target.

If one assumes that a demon under a lot of suspicion is going to try to jump into someone under almost no suspicion, if the Demons hit the diabolist, they can safely sit in him and then possess someone else. Then, as long as he stays clear of suspicion, they can jump into him without fear of hitting a power role, and hide out.

That's a good point.

I can certainly see other possibilities as well, but in broad strokes he struck me as being a minor negative for the demon team, vs. having an additional demon. Obviously once the demons know his identity, he's a positive, but that might not be easy to learn.
