Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
Think of someone you hate. You have a choice between:
A. You getting $50k and that person getting $10k B. You getting $25k and that person getting $0 If you choose B then you are a moron. I don't get why everyone is hating on this OP. |

But lets just continue to disregard those elements for fun's sake. Here's my example: Think of a poker site you hate. They stole hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars from players, and there is nothing to stop them from doing it again. You have a choice of: A. Playing on the site that you know cheated players, and has little reason not to do it again B. Playing on a site that has never been proven to have cheated its players If you choose A you're a moron. |

Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
i don't think representing this scandal as AP stealing from its customers for its direct benefit is an accurate description of what happened.
A person high up in the company, possibly (probably?) an part owner abused a hole in the software he either created or found. Absolute, as a company, didn't steal from me. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think it is an accurate description, seeing as how Scott Tom owns the company, Absolute Poker, and still does. If you say the company stole from you, then it implies it is the owner who received the money the company stole, and vice versa. I could understand if Scott Tom didn't own the company, or maybe even if he no longer owned the company, but in both cases he does. |

Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
The only way I could possibly play Absolute again is if I found out that the owners of most of the other sites are just as scummy but not as stupid.

Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
The Absolute Poker cheating scandal has divided us into two camps about how to respond.
Prior to this, many people thought that the online casino would statistically detect any significant non-standard play, using sophisticated computer algorithms. The truth is that even when experienced players informed them of the problem, they issued statements that it did not occur. It was only after the spreadsheet was inadvertently leaked that they had no other choice but to admit it. Prior to this, it was thought that the repercussions to an online casino involved in cheating would be so severe that they would never consider it. Some thought that the casino would "police itself", or that the "gaming commission" would revoke their accreditation, or that the players would avoid them like the plague. Now we have players who think that the proper response is to play at the site where the cheating occurred, because it will be easier there. We have all learned a valuable lesson. Organizing poker players is a lot like herding chickens cross country, on horseback. |
