Default Getting Poker Rate at Commerce

It's been about two years since I last went to Commerce. If I remember correctly, all I had to do was book a room on the website for any rate and then once I get to the poker room tell one of the floor people to call the hotel and give me the poker rate. If I remember correctly, this only needed to be done once and no one kept track of hours played (I'm going to average 6+ hrs/day, mostly 20-40, FWIW).

So, is the procedure for getting the reduced rate still the same now?

Also, has anyone had any problems (i.e. thought you'd get the poker rate, but find out they won't give it to you at check-out)?

By the way, does anyone happen to know what the poker room rate is these days?

Thanks for the info. $89 is better than I remember. I think that I paid about $110 including taxes. That's a big difference just for tax.

Now the floor man will walk over to the front desk at some point and let them know to give you the rate. They will give you a laminated card which is valid for a year so that in the future you won't need to get a floor man anymore. It's $109 pretax for me everytime, wish it was 89

Thanks for the info. Maybe the $110 I was remembering was without tax after all.

Keep in mind at Commerce the 5-10 blind game is a $400 fixed buy. The minimum buy games start at 10-20 blinds (but you can buy in for a $600 minimum in the 10-20 and some short stack specialists will do this).

The Bike and Hollywood Park have 5-10 blind NL with a $500 minimum buy-in (The Hustler has a game that goes on occasion). These casinos aren't close to decent hotels though.

In that case, everyone has 40BBs in the beginning? Is that normal? In The Bike, how much is the maximum buy-in for 5-10? Thanks for the reply, so far I think The Bike has a much better structure

There is no max buy-in at the Bike's 5/10 game. $500min-uncapped.

LA has terrible stuctures for the NL, really demoting the game to some sort of crap-shooting Limit, (but still beatable, of coarse)

1/2= 40 fixxed (fixxed defined as no more or no less)
1/3= 80 fixxed (only at the bike)
2/3= 100 fixxed (please explian this game to me?)
2/5= 200 fixxed
5/5= 300 to 500 spread (bike only)
5/10= 500 minimum (bike)
5/10= 400 fixxed (commerce, HP)
10/20= 600 minimum (commerce) & 1000 minumum (bike)
