Default Gimme some John Wayne films to add to my queue

Don't leave out obvious ones that you think I've probably already seen, because I probably haven't.

Hellfighters - based on real-life oil well firefighter 'Red' Adair

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Rooster Cogburn
True Grit

If you're going to do it, do it right, and that would be to view his films in chronological order, as that will give you some idea of the growth and maturation of his unique on-screem personna.

Go here for a complete listing......

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000078/

FWIW, here are the films that I would pluck of that list for you in chronological order, with the "must see's" notated with an *, or an ** for definitive performances/screenplays.

*Stagecoach (1939)
Angel and the Badman (1947)
Fort Apache (1948)
**Red River (1948)
3 Godfathers (1948)
*She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949)
*Rio Grande (1950)
**The Quiet Man (1952)
**The Searchers (1956)
Rio Bravo (1959)
The Horse Soldiers (1959)
North to Alaska (1960)
The Comancheros (1961)
**The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)
*Donovan's Reef (1963)
McLintock! (1963)
*The Sons of Katie Elder (1965)
El Dorado (1966)
*True Grit (1969)
The Undefeated (1969)
Rio Lobo (1970)
Big Jake (1971)
The Cowboys (1972)
**The Shootist (1976)

That would be the least I could do.

But my "Band of Brothers" post exposes me as a terrible review writer.

I never grow tired of the "he makes A look like B" syntax. I'll laugh every time.

I'd give a * for Rio Bravo (directed by Howard Hawks) and Big Jake.
