Re: assani
tug,
You epitomize this trend of people being pretty solid contributors to 2+2, then becoming mods and instantly feeling like all of a sudden they are some super important person possessing incredible knowledge and judgement about what is best for 2+2 and feel like they are somehow oh so much better than all the excellent 2+2ers who for whatever reason don't choose to be a mod. Whatever, dude. Anyway, like I said, you used to be one of my favorite posters, then all of a sudden you turned into some sort of self-important 2+2 douchebag once you became a mod. Hope you enjoyed insulting me there, tug, it really hurt a lot. There are clearly a bunch of mods (a few of whom I mentioned previously) who take this job very seriously. I'm clearly not one of them. Good to know 2+2 can count on you, though, sport. |

Re: assani
I am locking this thread until Ryan comes back to address things.
Either I'm in a particular sissy like mood or the tone tonight has really become more ugly than usual. |

Re: assani
I don't know that I have a whole lot more to say about what happened with Yeti. Earlier in the thread I mentioned why I felt like I was bound to do that. Clearly that's not the case, though. I could have just dealt with it the way I was initially going to and changed the sticky if the subject continued long enough to make me think of it. So yeah I did make a mistake.
What's important to me is that you guys know I'm doing the best I can with things. My whole idea of how to approach mod stuff here is to be reasonable but not a weenie, to always listen and constantly reevaluate my own positions with as much of an open mind as I can muster. I'll screw that up along the way again, I'm sure. But nothing could bother me more than people thinking I'm gazing down from some tower, not willing to budge or give a [censored] about their views. If you don't like something I'm doing, it's worth noting NT's comments in this thread. It's easier to do things better when I hear from you guys. So please feel free to speak up, and don't assume I'll take it personally. Aside from anything that happened with me here, I'm concerned that many of us are so at each other's throats. They'll always be arguements, but it almost seems like it's at a point that it's become a real problem for the environment here. This needs to be more fun. Why do you guys think that is? Is it just that some views are so radically different, or is it more straight animosity between mods? Personally I think we should be more respectful of each other and not neglect that there are real people behind these avatars. I include myself with that too. Maybe we just need more ice cream? I don't know... |

Re: assani
we clearly need more photoshop threads around these parts. Also my understanding is that yeti does not want to come back at this point. Is that correct? Good decision ryan, its impressive that you can admit you might have been wrong so quickly. |

I don't know... [/ QUOTE ] My perception is that there's a lot of personal animosity between some individual mods and groups of mods. Many of the disagreements here stem from that. I wish I had a great suggestion to resolve it, but I don't. One side is for tougher modding with the argument that it improves forum quality. They've demonstrated that this can be effective. The other side takes infractions less seriously and values the overall contributions of individual posters as a whole, rather than focusing on ten crappy posts out of 100. Much of it is individual taste. This meta theme has a bunch of sub themes, whether profanity has a place here, what pictures are sick or lol funny, etc. Frankly, I see both sides of the argument, though my personal preference is to draw a big line for anything in poor taste, (permas for horse porn, etc.), with more leniency for individual quirkiness or just poor content, (lock or delete rather than bans.) I hesitate to wade into the fray, being aware that I probably have the easiest mod-walk here when the WSOP isn't in full swing. Also, I don't have the desire or the energy to make enemies over items I deem not critical in the scope of real life. |
