what about getting AJ to bet when you check rather than him folding when you bet? That offsets the free card quite a bit.

[/ QUOTE ]
well its all a matter of frequencies of actions and hands.

a free card to AJ costs u about the same as getting him to put in a bet gains u. i'm sure AJ is checking a lot more than half the time if checked to

I don't see what whether it matters if the UTG or the button raises either could likly have Kings. I am going to lead out as I was the capper and hope to see some folds. If I get raised then it is time to evaluat the apponent and my history with him. I think lower pairs still pay off often enough to bet and will seldon ever raise when the King comes unless they have a big king and even then often times call due to the preflop action. Bet and Pray.

i dont' understand why you'd want folds here. It's not like he's folding KT or something, and unless I'm mistaken we'd be pretty happy to have AJ call.

i just want to say that I do see some merit in betting, because there are a lot of hands that will call. Also you can trust to not be bluff raised too often here because your bet looks scary in your opponents eyes.

I just think that checking is the better play

I think checking is bad because you end up with no information. If we assume that given the preflop action that we are not going to be bluff raised we can fold for 1 bet if we are raised. If we check, are you just going to give up if someone bets... I doubt it so we usually put two bets in with no information as to where we are at. JMO

Partly for value but partly to see where I am at. If I check I lose value from any hand that I beat and I can't find a fold to one bet when I have no information. But then again, I am a spewtard.
