This reminds me of the time when Mike McMahon (then of the Packers) jammed his head into the wall in celebration and sprained his neck.

Too funny.

[/ QUOTE ]

I remember Gus Frerotte doing this while on the Redskins, don't remember McMahon.

[/ QUOTE ]

Gus Frerotte was even worse--he gave himself a concussion.

Also, this is by far the most awesome thing I've seen all season from MLB.

This whole thing is LOL no matter who's fault it is.

By the way, do any of you baseball nerds know what John Hirschbeck said to Roberto Alomar to get spit at? I heard it was a pretty terrible epithet or baiting comment of some sort but never heard what it actually was. I was guessing he called him "gay" and that Alomar loves pole but it's just a guess.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, rumor is he called him a [censored]
wow 2+2 censors it .. yes a 3 letter word for a gay

[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks, that's what I thought it was. Also, the way what I read was phrased implied that he was in fact gay, or there was a rumor going around to that effect (something about how the comment addressed Alomar's "lifestyle choice"), but I've never heard anything about that since.

Also, that three letter word is censored because Mason is very conservative and doesn't like people who smoke, or any mention of it, not because he has a problem with the gays.

So funny, so sad.

I totally buy Milton's trying to get his anger under control and here's little doubt to my mind based on the first base coach's reactions that he was baited.

I'm a big believer in officials (poker dealers too) being as invisible as is humanly possible in the durtion of a game, and think that for them to be allowed to do otherwise disrupts the sanctity of sport. I also think the umpire in question here, Mike Winters, needs to be fired.

PS: I'd bet some of the cameras present could pick up what winters was saying. I don't blame Helton for not wanting to get in the middle of this.

Absolutely nothing good for Helton could happen by talking about this situation.

I thought Bradley sounded fairly well composed and made some good points in the interview after. Also he seemed very aware of his reputation and how it related to the situation, which is more than you can say for a lot of troublemakers.

From what the first base coach said, it sounds like the ump was pretty out of line. I think the league should subpoena the first baseman as a neutral party to see if what the ump said.

I actually feel sorry for the guy, I think he's really trying to not have any more blowups and it sounds like he was totally baited.

[/ QUOTE ]

agreed completely, and I'm surprised by the replies before yours.

Remember the big rumor in the Post about how a prominent NY Mets star was gay and everyone thought it was Piazza? The rumor was about Alomar...
