[ QUOTE ]
I ended up raising to about $1800 at the flop and he folded, saying he had T4. Whether he was telling the truth or not, I just felt that I missed value on this hand and often do in this spot but I wasn't sure that he would bet again at the turn if I checked. If I were to just call the flop, do you find that insta-checking (or betting) the turn would help give away any false tells? If so, what size bet would be good for the turn?

Love this place already, thanks for the input

Try not to be results oriented, what do you do if you smooth call and a J, 9, T, 8, 7, or spade falls and he fires the turn? There are good reasons to raise this flop, and just because he happened to have the weaker part of his range (TPNK) doesn't mean he never has KT, AT, or a draw and stacks off to you.

I don't like pushing here the stacks are still deep and you are loosing value. I would put him on one of two hands. 10 with good kicker or a set. I would raise between 1000-1500 and see what he does. If he re raises then I would consider throwing the hand away. If he calls and Kings or Aces do not come I would push then. But I say don't push on the flop, the stacks are still deep enough to find out where you are at and make the correct play.
