Default Help me to not get cheated (cheating, collusion, marking techniques)

OK I'll bite. There was much talk in another thread about collusion, which turned into a general cheating thread.

I'm not new to B&M play, but I'm a total newb at cheating--specifically, spotting cheating.

Players are so bad that I have a hard time accusing them of colluding for capping 63 against their buddy when they also capped with 63 against me last orbit. I've also read claims that people spot marked cards every single time they play, and I've yet to find any.

So what should I be looking for? I read Penn Jillette's book about cheating, but it didn't go specifically into techniques.

Can we get a thread about what to look for, as well as definitions of some terms? Most common marking techniques? Most common collusion practices? Common chip placement schemes?

I'll spend some time with Google, but it might help the community here to discuss it.

we decided some time ago that discussing this topic can cross over into helping the cheater. we let collusion topics remain until they get into great detail, then they get locked if they cross over into the realm of helping the cheater. Since your asking for great detail I feel its probably best to stop the discussion early, although I admit I might be making a mistake by doing this since there really is nothing wrong with the thread so far.

If you want other resources I recommend you check out Forte's book - its the best because it doesn't try to create a false hype (collusion and cheating exists, but its not rampant) and is taken from the POV of the casino manager. also A. D. Livingston's Catching Poker Cheats is not a bad title. Penn Joulette's book is horrible, its on the list of the worst poker books ever written. There are also a few DVD's that show card manipulation, but I don't know if they are any good.

edit - YouTalkFunny recommends Darwin Ortiz's book called Gambling Scams - http://www.darwinortiz.com/protection-services.php
