Table/ seat selection

Hi,
I didnt find anything in the Essential Selection about table and seat selection.

can someone please give me some basics about it?
i know that i should choose the highest average with the highest players/flop but is there anything else i need to know? which seats are the best etc?

In Addition to plrs/flop and highest $ average, I look at the players at the table. I check for names I know, and I make sure there aren't too many short stacks.
