Borgata Petition: \"Speed poker\"
To Tab and the fine tournament staff at the Borgata:
You have the best structure of any tournaments anywhere, and the nicest room in A.C. Would you consider running some events with an action clock, for instance 20 seconds, on every player in every hand? Players could be given a certain number of extensions. Chess, backgammon, and pool tournaments are typically played with clocks, which favor the skilled player. I love live poker, but am increasingly frustrated and bored with the growing number of players who watch edited highlights on television and stall over every fold. I can't imagine it would be too hard to find a mechanism the dealer could use efficiently. Thanks, Borgata Regular Anyone agree? |

Re: Borgata Petition: \"Speed poker\"
Agreed.
They have probably the best structures in AC but i hate when somebody wastes 25% of a level on a decision. I fully understand there are difficult decisions in a poker tournament however it seems there is a lot of extra hollywooding going on. I know not all are online players as well but online you have 15-30 seconds and a time bank you can use when needed so having people act faster live i don't think would be too hard. I also think they should have live "Turbo" NL tables like many online sites do. part of the thing i don't like about live NL is that people take a long time. I'm not trying to take anything away from reading another player but sometimes it seems like people agonize of the most trivial plays/hollywooding before folding. On the other hand i don't think any casino would implement something like this. I don't remember what tournament it was i saw on TV, maybe a WPT event of some sort, but it was "Speed Poker" each player had 30 seconds to act on his turn or his hand was mucked. |
