AQs TPTK big pot
This is the only hand I played last night where I was totally in the dark postflop. And I went the passive way. Please discuss.
Also capping preflop with this large field: yay or nay? 4/8 foxwoods, mostly loose passive opponents Preflop 3-bettor: This is the first time I've seen him 3town in a few hours. Still, he has a "gambler" image. Hero has A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in EMP. 1 limper, Hero raises, Villain 3bets next in, button calls the $12, blinds and limper come along as well. Flop (6 players, 18 sb) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Blinds and limper check, Hero checks, PFR bets, all call, Hero calls. Bet out, C/r here, or wait for safe turn to fling poo? Turn (6 players, 12 bb) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked, Hero checks, PFR bets, no one raises but 1 person might have folded. Hero calls. River (many players still, 17-18 bb) 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Checked, Hero checks,... |

Re: AQs TPTK big pot
easy value cap preflop.
as played up til the flop, check raise the flop and take control of the hand. call down a 3 bet. given that that didnt happen bet/fold the river. |

Re: AQs TPTK big pot
Whether to cap here or not depends on what range you give the three better. If he has a tighter range then capping would be bad since your equity in the hand has gone down. If he has a wide range then cap.
I don't mind check-calling this down given this board. There is only one overcard to worry about (K), no straights, and just the flush draw. This is a hand I like to get to showdown and if you play it any other way you risk getting blown off the hand or paying too much. Your opponents have 2-3 outs unless they have a flush draw. I would play this as a way ahead way behind situation. |

[/ QUOTE ] 5 handed i think its a cap unless the pfr has AA. i also dont think taking a passive line is good here in a pot this big. and i dont get why a bet/fold is bad. if you're raised on the river you are good here 0%. |

Re: AQs TPTK big pot
i didn't see anything about 5 handed?
i don't disagree with you about if we get raised on the river we're usually beat but in a huge pot with tptk and some action i want to see showdown. |

[/ QUOTE ] 5 handed = 5 players in the pot. the 2 players with the best hands preflop are eating up all the equity of the 3 players with inferior hands. this includes situations where one player has KK and the other AQs (AQo is more marginal). |
